Cosmos was a solo exhibition by the painter Claire Fahys, curated by Marion Guggenheim and presented within the design studio Hauvette & Madani in Paris, in collaboration with A Women’s Art Association, as a celebration of women artists. It remained on view until February 21, 2025.
The exhibition set Fahys’s oil paintings in dialogue with the Hauvette & Madani design collection, bringing natural landscapes and warm Parisian interiors into conversation. Its starting point was a reflection by Gaston Bachelard on the home as a sacred universe: the familiar domestic space became an imagined world, shaped by intimacy and the memory of place. Fahys’s large formats and contrasting colors immersed viewers in both the interior and the exterior worlds of the paintings.
Among the works on view, «Nocturne III» shows a neighbor with his back to his house, between the darkness of a room and a white light in the doorway. «Selfie» shows the artist photographing herself in a blurred reflection, as if the painting were looking back at the viewer. «From the Woods» depicts a family house on a wooded hill, an autobiographical landscape that binds memory, art and family. Fahys also draws on the world of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, whose «Reveries of the Solitary Walker» has marked her work for years.
For Marion Guggenheim, the portraits of the artist’s close friends place the world of the senses in dialogue with that of the mind, and offer a deeply introspective vision of the world.
