Whitewall Projects presented its very first exhibition, From Nature, during Art Basel Paris week. This group exhibition, curated by Marion Guggenheim, Nicolas Dewavrin and Emma Donnersberg, brought together a selection of artworks and design objects from an international group of emerging and established artists. From Nature also highlighted a lighting design collaboration with FLOS.

Just three minutes from the Grand Palais, where Art Basel Paris was held last October, the exhibition took over the unique space at 37 Roosevelt with works by Fabien Adèle, Louis Alcaraz, Apollinaria Broche, Mia Chaplin, Eugénie Didier, Daria Dmytrenko, DRIFT, Sasha Ferré, Pandora Graessl, Rafael Y. Herman, Alexandre Lenoir, William Macnad, Ileana García Magoda, Kami Mierzvvinsk, Roman Moriceau, Maho Nakamura, as well as design pieces by Emma Donnersberg.

The classic Parisian apartment hosting the exhibition had not been renovated since the 1970s. Its faded wallpaper, aged finishes, tiling, ceilings and floors bore the marks of time, entering into dialogue with the paintings, mixed-media works, sculptures, ceramics and installations exploring the relationship between nature and temporality.

Each artist developed their own approach to nature, shaped by their environment, resources, fragility and essence. Ileana García Magoda, Eugénie Didier and Roman Moriceau reinterpreted the floral still life with a contemporary vision. Mia Chaplin, William Macnad, Kami Mierzvvinsk and Sasha Ferré translated color and movement into swirling abstract compositions. Rafael Y. Herman, Pandora Graessl and Fabien Adèle revisited landscape through photographic processes or fantastical paintings. Finally, Louis Alcaraz and Maho Nakamura used materials such as leather and ceramic to bring imaginary flowers and scenes charged with tactility, magic and mystery to life.
