Nature’s Voices, an exhibition conceived by Marion Guggenheim and Nicolas Dewavrin, was presented at Vasto Gallery in Barcelona from September 6 to 25, 2024.
On the occasion of Manifesta 15 Barcelona, this exhibition brought together mixed-media works by thirteen artists, gathered to celebrate the resilient beauty of nature and explore its complex dialogue with humanity.
As organic elements face growing pressures—pollution, resource exploitation, climate disruption—Nature’s Voices offered an artistic reflection on their capacity to survive, transform and endlessly reinvent their own language. Through a diversity of mediums and approaches, the exhibition celebrated the timelessness of nature, the shifting richness of its textures, its ornamental genius, and the vitality it manages to preserve despite the threats to its integrity.
At once silent and sensual, whimsical and wise, nature asserted itself within the gallery space. It seemed to unfold its own ecosystems there, endlessly pushing its limits to survive and create new worlds.
The exhibition presented works by Clément Bataille, Berta Blanca T. Ivanow, Bianca Bondi, Guillaume Bouisset, Fabien Conti, Esther Gatón, Adrian Geller, Valentina Maggiolo, Théo Mercier, Nohemí Pérez, Guillermo Rosas Sanchez, Sequoia Scavullo and Charlotte Thrane. Each of them, in their own way, invited us to rethink our relationship with the living world, to question our impact and to celebrate nature’s capacity to adapt, as it continues to emerge and reinvent itself despite the attacks it endures.
